Week One

Yay, we are back with each other again...

This week we have started lots of different topics.

Our Star of the Week is......

Saif!

Our SKATs winner is...

Adwitha!

Science

We have been looking at irreversible chemical changes experiments this week.

The children had a great time mixing vinegar with warm milk, as they found out after stirring this mixture for a while that the vinegar produces globules of harder milk substance. The children were told that in history this is how early plastics were made.

Milk contains many molecules of a protein called casein. Each casein molecule is a monomer and a chain of casein monomers is a polymer. The polymer can be scooped up and moulded, which is why plastic made from milk is called casein plastic.

Computing

In computing this week, the children were understanding coding concepts. Their practical session saw them creating a traffic light sequence.

Arts Award Club - Tuesday

The week before half term the children designed and

modelled their Daruma doll in air drying clay.  Over the holidays, Mrs Hudson had taken home all the models, as the dolls dried out some cracks appeared. Mrs Hudson filled this gaps and sanded the models, and then primed each one with Gesso.

This week, the children were excited to be decorating their Daruma worry dolls.

The children used acrylic paint and acrylic pens to finish off with fine details.
