Welcome to Our School
A very warm welcome to you!
My name is Mrs. Tindall and I have the privilege of being the Headteacher at St. James' Lower Darwen.
We are a Church of England Primary School serving an amazing community, working together with the Church, Diocese, and other local partners to help all members of our school family to flourish. Hopefully, as you navigate your way around these pages, you will see exactly what it means to flourish.
Our foundation scriptures, Jeremiah 29:11 and John 10:10 underpin everything we offer. We believe God has a plan for all of us and wants to equip us to live 'life in all its fullness'. Through our daily acts of Collective Worship, the way we have planned and organised our curriculum and our enrichment opportunities we believe we are building faith, growing as a family, and working towards a successful future for everyone.
Our work on developing the 'whole child' means that as well as concentrating on academic and spiritual development, we have a strong focus on physical and emotional development as well. This comes through the nurture support we offer to children and their families, through our sporting offer of clubs, supported outdoor play and local competitions and through a strong focus on taking our learning out of the classroom wherever possible. Again, as you explore the website, you will see this in action!
We believe our school values of Love, Forgiveness, Truth, Compassion and Justice are evident around every corner you turn in school so why not take some time to come and see for yourself?
We believe St. James' is a special place to learn and to be a part of. If you have any questions after exploring our website, or want to visit in person, just give the school office a call on 01254 698 656 or look out for one of our open days.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
