Week 6

Week 6

What a lovely last week of the half term! We have enjoyed writing our own poems in English this week based on the classic poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat'.  The children have used creative nouns and adjectives in their nonsense poems and have enjoyed sharing them with their friends in class to help develop their oracy skills.  Our oracy outcome this half term was to perform the Owl and the Pussycat' poem to another class.  The children worked hard to remember the words and rhythm of the poem and they also included Makaton signs too! Year 1 loved the performance! Well done Year 2!

In art we made clay tiles and used repeating patterns to decorate.  With the left over clay they children enjoyed making a 'pinch pot'! Using paints the children added colour and definition to their tiles!

In PE we continued practising our team working skills and created various 'face pictures' using lots of PE equipment.  We then had to design our own and create a key so other children could make our design.  Lots of clear communication was required as well as the ability to compromise.

We used the Google Earth app and maps in geography to find out about the land usage of Kampong Ayer.  The children then compared and contrasted it to our local area.  Lots of geographical skills and vocabulary was evident in the classroom that afternoon which was lovely to see and hear and provided a lovely end to our topic.

The half term ended on a fabulous note as we celebrated History Maker day.  The children's costumes were amazing we all thoroughly enjoyed the activities throughout the day.

Thank you for you support and I hope you have a super 2 week half term break.
