Week 1

Science

In science this week, we have been learning about thermal conductors and insulators. We used our knowledge of thermal insulators to set up a test to decide which would be the best material to use to keep food fresh in a lunch bag. Although we found out that cotton wool is the best insulator, we agreed that we would not want to use this material next to our sandwiches. We therefore decided that it would be best to use cotton wool in conjunction with another material.

RE

We have been learning about how and why Christians read the Bible. As part of our discussions, we have learnt about the holy texts of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims in order to discover the similarities and differences. We watched videos and listened to the personal accounts of other children in our class.

Year 5 Blog - Joshua and Leon

In year 5 we are reading the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The book is really interesting. It is 1 of 8 books in the chronicles of Narnia.

We are learning division and multiplication in maths. We are playing TT rock stars and battling other classes  and teachers the winners for teachers vs students. and...students won.

In PE we learning tag rugby and gymnastics so we are learning something new.

In science we are learning properties and changes of materials as well as thermal conductors and thermal insulators. We saw how ice melts in different materials.

That is all for this week.
