We have started a new basketball unit this term. The class has been so excited to learn some new skills such as dribbling and the 'V dribble'. We have been learning how to protect the ball from their opponents by 'protective dribbling' and creating a barrier between their opponent and the ball with their bodies.
Year 3 has started a new unit focusing on earthquakes and why some cause alot more damage than others. This week, we have been learning about the earthquake that occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand on 22nd February 2011. They discussed a letter written by a lady who had come from the United Kingdom.
Year 3 have been using different media to produce prehistoric drawings. We have looked in great detail about the drawings that were made by man in the caves and on different surfaces. The children used charcoal on sugar paper to produce the images similar to those found.
This week in English, Year 3 have been reading, discussing, and acting out different fables. They have looked at the Tortoise and the Hare, The North Wind and the Sun, finally looking at The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse. They have had great fun using their oracy skills, to interview each other, acting as a character of one of the fables.
