Week 6

What an EGGcellent week we have had!

The children have loved watching the chicks grow this week! The chicks have started growing wings and have started flapping about and chirping much more! We love science in Year 2 and the chicks have really helped our life cycles unit in science come to life!

In English we used Ipads and our interviewing skills to research different types of facilities and attractions in Blackburn.  This will form the basis of our information booklet about Blackburn which we hope to display in the library before half term.

We had a visit from 'Mary Jones' in RE.  Mary was a Welsh girl who, at the age of fifteen, walked twenty-six miles barefoot across the countryside to buy a copy of the Welsh Bible from Thomas Charles because she did not have one.  In worship this term we have been learning about the friends of Jesus and the children enjoyed making friendship bracelets on Wednesday with Miss Scholfield.

In art we have used a range of pencils to create different tones to shade and create 3D drawings.  We then used our new skill to produce observational drawings of the chicks.  It was quiet tricky to draw something that moves, however we had lots of fun and I'm sure the chicks did too!

It's been lovely having chicks in the classroom and observing them over the last couple of weeks.  They have grown and changed so much.  I know the chicks will be missed when they go back to the farmer on Friday.  The farmer said he will send us updates of how our chicks are growing and hopefully we will get the chance to see them lay their own eggs in a few months and then the life cycle will start all over again!

Have an enjoyable weekend!
