Week 3 (w/c 3.5.22)

Geography

In Geography this week, we have continued our learning about the United Kingdom.

This week, we talked about different landmarks in the UK.
What better way to do this than to read a story by Steve Antony!

this time the Queen lost her handbag (not her hat) and she went all over the UK trying to get it bag.

Her handbag went on a huge journey, with the Queen close behind!

Landmarks in the story:
Windsor Castle
Stonehenge
White Cliffs of Dover
Oxford University
Snowdonia
The Giant's Causeway
The Angel of the North
Edinburgh Castle
London Marathon

After the story, we looked at each of the landmarks, found out some facts about them and looked at where they were on the UK map.

Guided Reading

This week we started off our guided reading by learning actions for our vocabulary words:

kite
immediately

borrowed

flung

lighthouse

curious

commotion

hurled

delighted
exhausted

We looked at an image from the story and the children talked to their talk partners about what was happening and they made predictions based on the picture.

On Tuesday we enjoyed listening to the story 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers and listening out for our vocabulary words so that we could join in the actions!

We also enjoyed some copycat reading. We are getting really good at saying the words the same was as Miss Bryan.

We finished off the week by drawing all the things we could remember that Floyd threw up into the tree! Miss Bryan was very impressed with our drawing and memories!
