Year Three

Year 3 - 2021/22

Our class teacher is Miss Scholfield.

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Redding and Mrs Hudson.

Mrs Baron teaches us on Thursday mornings.

Our Year 3 email address is year3@stjameslowerdarwen.blackburn.sch.uk and is checked at least once a week for messages. Please use this to contact Miss Scholfield with non-urgent issues. Alternatively, speak to any of the Y3 team in person or contact the office or Mrs Jacques for more urgent matters.

PE Days

Our PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. You should come into school wearing your PE kit on those days. Earrings should be removed for PE days. If this is not possible, your child can tape over their earrings for the lesson. Please note that football kits and crop tops are not allowed. PE could be outside, so you should come dressed for the weather. It is also useful for your child to have wellies and waterproofs in school, as we do outdoor learning weekly, come rain or shine!

Homework

Homework Heroes! We will send home a booklet of maths and spelling activities for each half term. These will be sent home on a Monday and you should bring them back to school on the following Monday. Two pages of the booklet should be completed each week.  We will go through the answers together in class. We usually self mark the maths on a Monday and do a spelling test on a Wednesday with the previous week's words. If you still have your original booklet at the end of the half term, you will get a bonus 5 raffle tickets, so take care of it. For every piece of homework you complete, you will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of each half term, we will draw a winner who will win a £10 Amazon voucher!

Home Reading: You should read your home reading book every day for at least 10 minutes. This should be recorded in your reading record and signed by an adult at home. Every time your reading record is signed, you will receive a homework heroes ticket! Please make sure you bring your reading book and record to school every day, so that a member of the Year 3 team is able to read with you throughout the week.

Times Tables: Practise your times tables as much as possible. It's really important that you practise often and keep the facts fresh in your mind as they help with SO many areas of maths. If you need a reminder of your TT Rockstars log in details, please let us know.
