In French, this week, Year 6 have been learning how to say the months of the year and days of the week. They learned songs to help them to remember the new vocabulary.
Today, the Courageous Advocates Pupil Voice Group held a penalty shoot out to raise money for The Cancer Bank. This is an amazing charity which aims to help to provide essential and useful items to local people who are undergoing cancer treatment. If you would like to donate, we are still accepting donations at school tomorrow! Well done to all those involved!
Some of our Year 6 girls have been enjoying our Macbeth unit so much that they have even done extra work at home! They are absolutely loving writing as a character in role and have done a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life! Well done!
Kyla from Year 6 has blown us all away this week with her absolutely incredible writing in RE! It's clear to see how passionately Kyla feels about equality and fairness in her version of Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech. Well done, Kyla!
Year 4 took part in an online workshop with author, Beth Lincoln, this week! She presented her new adventure, The Swifts, which is the children's book of the month in Waterstones for January. Beth shared her writing tips and learn how to plot their own murder mystery – from spooky settings, suspects, to red herrings! It looks like the children really enjoyed this workshop and we may have a few budding authors in our midst!
Year 6 are absolutely loving our Macbeth unit in English. This week, we analysed the structure of the witches' spell from the original script and counted the syllables in each line. The children had a go at writing their own versions, using the same number of syllables in each line to replicate the rhythm of the original.
Year 4 really enjoyed their prayer workshop with Rev Alice on Monday. Our prayers are like the skittles. We watched God's work and could see beautiful things happening.
Year 6 have been working in groups to choreograph their own dance in PE. They have learned about dynamics, pathways, levels and how to use stimuli as inspiration for their movements. This week, they worked to put their learning together and perform their original routines to the class. The children have worked very hard, showing excellent teamwork and communication skills along the way. Well done!
Year 5 have been working hard in DT to create pop-up books based on nursery rhymes. We can't wait to see the end result!
