  • Trip to Smithill's Open Farm

A bit of rain didn't stop Reception Class from having a great day out at Smithill's Open Farm in Bolton today. They enjoyed donkey rides, a tractor ride as well as feeding and looking at all the different farm animals. They even got to pet some of the animals in the afternoon and were very gentle with them. The cow milking demonstration was very interesting and the vanilla ice cream made in the dairy at the farm was a lovely treat and utterly delicious! Miss Bryan was very proud of all the children and the comments from the staff at the farm about how well behaved they were was so lovely to hear.

    Happy 50th Birthday St. James'!

Wow! What an amazing day we had on Friday celebrating 50 years since our school building was re-opened. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us!

The weather was kind to us and stayed dry for our picnic - thank you to all the grown ups who came to join us for an al fresco lunch! We loved having you all!

In the hall, it was a trip down memory lane! We welcomed our families (past and present!), colleagues and community to view photographs and memorabilia from the school's history, including a 'Punishment Book' from 1901! The children loved seeing all the old photographs, diaries and scrapbooks and learning more about our school's history.

Our wonderful Year 6 children did a fantastic job giving tours of school to our visitors. They were confident, articulate, welcoming and polite. We are so proud of them!

Finally, a huge well done and thank you to Mrs Jacques, who organised the day!
