  • Waterstones Trip with the SOL's Group

    Tue 23 Jan 2024

What an amazing day! The Student Observers of Learning (SOLs) pupil voice group visited Waterstones in Blackburn yesterday. After months of careful planning, organising a book sale and working with the PTFA, they finally got to go and buy new books for all the class reading corners. We could have spent hours in there. It was a lovely experience and the staff at Waterstones were extremely helpful. We managed to get almost everything from each class wish list and we even added a few extra surprises too. Over the next week, we will be putting in stickers inside the books ready for when we present each class with their new books. Once again, we would like to thank all our families for helping us to fund raise, as well as our amazing PTFA. We can't wait to read the new books. Keep checking FB for further updates on this project.

For now, if anyone needs Mrs. Tindall she will be in the office reading the new books - she can't put them down!

  • National Handwriting Day.

    Mon 22 Jan 2024

Tomorrow (23rd January) is National Handwriting Day.

To celebrate this, we will be awarding certificates and a prize for a child in each class who is working hard on their handwriting. This could mean that they have improved lots in this area, are working hard to improve it or that they have beautiful handwriting already.

I am excited to see even more of the children's writing and handwriting tomorrow. Everyone in school is working hard to improve their writing and it can be seen in their books and on display.

This afternoon, Year 1 braved the snow and the cold weather as it linked to their Geography unit of learning. They went out into the woods in the local area looking at how the weather had changed and discussed what they could see with their partner. Towards the end of the walk, they had fun in the snow and even built a den as somewhere to keep warm! They had a wonderful time and it was lovely to take learning outdoors!
