Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Friday 23rd February, we are challenging you to take part in 'Green Day'! We would like you to come to school wearing something green BUT we don't want you to buy anything new. Instead, have a look through your wardrobes, borrow from friends or family or buy second hand (e.g. from Vinted). We are promoting sustainability and raising awareness for protecting our planet. We are asking for donations of any size to put towards buying a composting bin for school which will help us to reduce our food waste. We can't wait to see you all in your sustainable green outfits!
This week Year 1 braved the wet weather and walked down to our local library. They absolutely loved exploring all the books and reading for pleasure. They had free choice of books and loved reading new books. They were even lucky enough to be read to by some of their classmates who read perfectly, and by Sue a lovely member of staff from the library. Year 1 had a lovely morning and were even more excited that they signed some books out to borrow and read at school relating to their topics!
Year 6 had a fantastic day yesterday doing their 'Play in a Day'. A huge thanks to Dramatic Annie who made the day possible with their enthusiasm and creativity!
The children worked so hard to learn and perform their version of Macbeth all in one day. Some of the children even learned their lines off by heart despite only getting their scripts halfway through the morning. They were absolutely amazing! Thank you for all the grown ups who came to watch and we hope you enjoyed their fabulous performance!
This week, Year 5 braved the Great British weather to venture into the woods to complete some Geography fieldwork. They were looking for human and geographical features in the local area with a particular focus on the river as Year 5 have been learning all about rivers in Geography this half term.
As part of Child Mental health Week we were invited to take some children to Witton Park Academy to take part in a resilience workshop. The children took part in team building, problem solving activities and made a resilience passport. The children really enjoyed the two hour activity and when they finished they said it had gone really quick! They must have been having fun!
Thank you to Witton Park Academy for a great afternoon!
This morning, the Cultural Capital Committee/Digital Leaders Pupil Voice Group did an assembly about internet safety for Safer Internet Day. They shared information about what we can do to keep safe online. Well done!
Last week, Year 6 worked exceptionally hard in music to listen carefully to a piece of classical music - The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra - and put the musical notes in the correct order.
Year 5 shared their pop-up books with their Reception buddies this afternoon. Reception class loved having a go at the pop-ups and listening to their nursery rhymes.
Last week, Year 1 completed a reading challenge to see how many weird and wonderful places they could read at home! As you can see, they enjoyed reading in lots of different places! Well done, Year 1!
Year 5 have been enjoying learning through active games in Maths. They all got involved, showed great teamwork and absolutely loved it! It's great to see them exercising their bodies and their minds at the same time! Well done, Year 5!
